Acting is one of the most non-serious arts in existence as the undercurrent awareness, that this is all make believe, is a constant. Carrying this awareness into life off-stage can lead to some profound insights. In a safe and supportive space the participants can gather the courage to take risks and step onto the tightrope of self-exposure and spontaneous creativity.
Over two and half days we use a variety of structures and modalities that can open an inner understanding of the causes and motivations that shape behaviour and move action in us. Based on that the participant can draw on richer resources of imagination to fill a character with life.
Being grounded in the body will help you discover aspects of who you’re playing and what this person wants. Relaxation and breaks help to reflect and integrate what you understood and learned. There is a lightness and much laughter in group exercises, where the whole group functions as an ensemble creating social sculptures and improvisations. Partner exercises and sharing moments deepen understanding and integration. Giving and receiving attention creates a dialogue and you can become aware of the symbiotic energy field of audience and performer.
